The House
The house is arranged over three floors:
The Ground Floor
The ground floor consists of the living room, kitchen, utility room and front and rear terraces. The back door gives access to
the rear terrace and subsequently the garages, pool and side entrance
to the urbanisation. The side entrance to the urbanisation is equipped
with an outdoor shower area, which is handy for washing off sand when
returning from the beach.
The living
room has French windows onto the front terrace, and two large ceiling
fans. There are two 3 seater sofas, a dining table with seating for 6,
a stereo CD/Cassette/Radio, and a wall mounted LCD TV/DVD which can be
rotated to be viewed in any part of the room. There are additional
chairs and tables on the front terrace.
All cleaning products and chemicals are stored in a high
cupboard in the utility room. Beach chairs, umbrellas and other
beach items are available for use and stored in the Utility Room.
A high chair, and several child safety
gates are available at the premises on request
The 1st Floor
The first floor comprises three air conditioned double bedrooms and
a family bathroom. Bedroom 1 has a double bed, bedside cabinets,
and fitted wardrobes. This bedroom benefits from an en-suite shower
room and the sea views to the front of the property. Bedroom 2 has
two single beds that can be combined to make a double bed, and has
fitted wardrobes and views to the pool area. Bedroom 3 has a double
bed and standalone wardrobe and views to the pool area. All three
bedrooms have centrailised air conditioning. The family bathroom
has a toilet, washbasin & bidet, and a bath with shower curtain and
shower fittings.
The 2nd Floor
The 2nd Floor is an independent Suite, and a roof terrace which is
laid out with planting, tables and chairs and great views down to the
seafront.
The accommodation on the top floor comprises an air conditioned Master
Bedroom and living area with TV/DVD, mini fridge, and a luxury marble en suite with large
shower.
There are double sliding doors onto the roof terrace with views to the
sea, and rear windows that look onto the pool area.
This room is also large
enough for a cot (which we also have should you need it), next to the
bed.
Santa Pola
Santa Pola is situated about 15 minutes drive South-West of Alicante
Airport on the Costa Blanca. It’s a very Spanish resort, with most of
the visitors being from Madrid, and a small number from Britain,
France and elsewhere. English is not widely spoken. Santa Pola is a
working port town, making the seafood a speciality in local
restaurants.
The town is centred on the Castle and Square (Glorieta) where the
children play in early evening. There are a wide range of shops, bars,
and restaurants on the square and the seafront.
Urbanisation Punta Varadero
The apartments and townhouses of Punta Varadero centre around the
child friendly swimming pool and public gardens. Parking is concealed
under the pool.
The development is situated about 2km East from the centre of town,
and about 200m from the beach.
There are a choice of Blue Flag beaches, with the nearest being Playa
Varadero just 200m from the house. Towards the West are the town
beaches of Playa Santiago Bernabeu and Playa Levante. Beyond the Port,
Gran Playa stretches many miles, and is a popular destination for
windsurfing and kite surfing. To the East are the more secluded coves
of Santa Pola del Este. Further East, beyond the end of the town is
the protected nature reserve of Carabassi, situated below the
Lighthouse on the Cabo De Santa Pola.
The walk
into town takes a leisurely 20 minutes along the promenade (with
plenty of seafront bars to stop off at on the way). Alternatively, the
local bus stops on the seafront near the house, and costs one Euro to
ride into town.
The El
Ancla beach bar on Playa Varadero is owned by a fishing family who
work the local Port – hence the seafood is spectacular. For more
formal dining, Restaurante Varadero (about 100m from the house) is one
of the top restaurants in town, with great views out to sea, and is a
popular destination for posh wedding receptions. Also within a 5
minute walk are Carlottis Restaurant, bar and shop. And in season the
local beach bars Kala II and Poseidon open, along with the grocer and
pharmacy at the Astilleros development three blocks left down the
promenade.
For guests
who prefer to visit English speaking bars, there is an Irish bar and
Italian restaurant at Santa Pola Del Este, 15 minutes walk north up
the Promenade.
Around Santa Pola
In the vicinity it’s worth visiting the Cathedral Quarter of Alicante,
the Roman City of Elche (for which Santa Pola was the Port), and the
popular local destination of Tabarca Island, which is a short ferry
ride from the Port.
