Alicante leads the world

When it comes to providing beach facilities for the disabled, Alicante is the world leader.

More than 20 countries are now looking at the initiatives of many Costa Councils who have provided special access to their beaches for the many disabled visitors who arrive every year.

Apart from easy beach access, specially adapted wheelchairs are provided so that disabled people can enjoy the water. Trained personnel are also on hand to assist.

The province now has 18 wheelchair friendly beaches and more have been promised as soon as funds are available
